The Name
Named for the tree of Mana Pools.
Winterthorn takes its name from the Faidherbia albida — the winterthorn tree of Mana Pools, beneath which elephants rise on their hind legs to reach the apple-ring pods. It is a tree that flowers in the dry season, when all else is bare — a symbol of abundance in scarcity, of life that thrives when conditions seem impossible.
Our visual system, the Albida palette, is drawn directly from that tree: pale bark, dry-season canopy, and the orange-brown of the apple-ring pods. It is the colour of Zimbabwe's wilderness — quiet, warm, and deeply rooted.
